T * Danse celebrates his fourth birthday.
In these four years T * Danse has become an appointment for contemporary art lovers, for those who want to fill their eyes and hearts with dance, circus, theatre and all those hybrid forms that we call art. And not only. Every year, for the last four years, T*Danse has made real something that is totally magic. Locals and tourists come together, beyond language barriers, because the body is its expressive tool.
This will be a special edition: we are starting out, loaded with ideas and projects we want to translate into reality, with energy and enthusiasm, with the powerful desire to gather around vibrant artistic proposals, in a context of feast, beauty and pleasure. Because it is about pleasure, and the pleasure to be astonished, too: T*Danse will be the place for the most daring proposals, focused on the new and unexplored fields.
Cindy Van Acker will bring a preview of the solos from her new creation Shadowpieces, performed in “secret venues” in Aosta’s historic centre, which will be communicated on the day only to those who booked for this exclusive event. Darragh McLoughlin will present his latest creation in which juggling, dance and visual art enter into an extremely sophisticated short circuit; and Danish choreographer Palle Granhøj will present a world premiere on the evening dedicated to the "Hosts Club".
This is just to mention the news from the "regulars" at T*Danse: this edition is bursting with premieres and new artists, and an all-female Performance Art section, with a solo performance closing each one of the four evenings of shows.
Our starting point was the idea of “border”; now we want to move forward, to imagine and go beyond the concept of frontier, bringing signs to our region that can help build stairs, bridges and tunnels to cross borders and overcome boundaries.
That’s why, even though the shows are, as always, the pulsing heart of T*Danse, we want the festival to be first and foremost the result of a community’s dream, a place in which each and every person can get involved according to his or her visions and inclinations.
We will invade the urban space, with the craziness of Marco Torrice and his Melting-potters, one of the events of Waiting for T*Danse: the section in which you can get involved and participate already from the week before the festival, that includes the much awaited return of the workshop Corpo Poetico®, and an all-new project in collaboration with music school SFOM, focused on dance, improvisation and music.
We will celebrate the hip-hop culture with its feisty Aostan community in a battle directed by Cie Drive, that we will find again in the programme with a show combining hip-hop, break and contemporary dance.
We will think and share views and ideas in the section Around the shows, with the cycle of conferences dedicated to Ercole Balliana at the Regional Library, and at the feedback aperòs with the artists.
#comunicadanzaaosta will tell us stories from the eyes (and the posts) of the Art College students, who will also be arms and legs of the festival thanks to the fantastic programme of Work-related learning experience.
German choreographer Anna Konjetzky will present the national premiere of her work for young spectators in the matinee dedicated to primary schools; and dance and circus schools from all over the region will be at the heart of the project Dance schools marathon, in which the students will get to know the artists and get the chance to perform themselves at the end of the festival week.
Last but least, a true cornerstone of the festival: the programme #coinvolgiti and its Hosts Club who, from the very first edition, adopted our artists hosting them in their own homes, and the volunteers who will live the festival experience with us from behind the wings.
Lots of news, lots of art, so much conviviality: aperitifs, dance, thought and ... party!
Artistic direction: Marco Chenevier e Francesca Fini
